In our previous report, we highlighted absolute follower growth during the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. This time, we’re diving into relative growth on Instagram, showcasing which federations saw the largest percentage increase.

After the Paris 2024 Olympics the data shows that Olympic Golf led with 155.32% (+35,824) growth, proving the sport’s appeal surged during Paris 2024. FIG Gymnastics and World Aquatics followed with 50.87% (+149,027) and 44.73% (+423,660), respectively, reflecting strong engagement with their fanbases.
Smaller but Steady Gains
WDSF Breaking for Gold (34.84%), ISA Surfing (16.98%), and World Rowing (16.41%) also experienced notable relative growth, expanding their reach beyond niche audiencess
Minimal Growth
Major federations like FIFA (0.48%) and World Rugby (0.52%) saw smaller increases due to their already vast followings. Meanwhile, International Weightlifting Federation (1.37%) and World Pentathlon (0.88%) were at the bottom, with minimal relative growth.

Relative growth highlights how well federations converted Olympic exposure into lasting fan engagement, a key indicator of long-term influence and brand expansion.
